Every 4th of July, the folks at followtheflag.org do something many would believe is impossible; fly a 400lbs flag across a 600-foot canyon wall in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
Her name is Big Betsy, she is just under 12,000 feet square feet she’s the largest flying American Flag in the country.
This year we were able to witness Big Betsy’s beauty and we were amazed at how such a large flag just floats effortlessly in the breeze of the canyon. It was truly a breathtaking site, and we highly recommend it for anyone in the area.
Here are some words from the founders Kyle Fox and Ron Nix, “Each one of us has the responsibility to be courageous, to speak out, to have hope, and to inspire patriotism in others. It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old, rich, or poor, religious, or not, the spirit of the American flag has a way of making us all feel connected.”
With their mission statement of “Honor, Heal, Inspire” the Follow the Flag is a non-profit foundation that organizes many events throughout the year, from motorcycle rides to run/walk fundraisers so be sure to follow them on Facebook and sign up for their alerts to stay informed on any upcoming events that you can attend or volunteer at, or both!
